
MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) - The explosions at the Russian Consulate General in the French city of Marseille have all the sign of a terrorist attack, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the media, TASS reports.
"The blasts at the Russian Consulate General in Marseille have all the signs of a terrorist attack. We demand that the host country undertake immediate, thorough investigation and take measures to improve the security of Russia’s diplomatic facilities," the diplomat emphasized.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the events that took place at the Russian Consulate General in Marseille. According to him, Russian diplomatic institutions in the unfriendly countries need reinforced security. Moscow communicates this information to the host countries through diplomatic channels.
France’s BFMTV reported that an explosion had occurred near the Russian consulate in Marseille at 8:00 in the morning (10:00 Minsk time), likely causing no casualties. The Russian Consulate General reported that three projectiles were thrown into the Consulate’s grounds. One did not explode; no casualties were reported.
