Russian MFA: By striking energy infrastructure, Kiev confirms its total inability to honor any deals

MOSCOW, 20 March (BelTA) - By striking the energy infrastructure, Kiev has once again confirmed its total inability to honor any deals, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a briefing for the press, BelTA learned.

In the early hours of 19 March, Ukraine committed a deliberate drone attack on an energy site in the community of Kavkazskaya in Krasnodar Territory. As a result, an oil tank was set ablaze, with fire eventually spreading to 1,700 square meters. This facility transships oil from railroad tank cars into the pipeline system of the international oil transportation company Caspian Pipeline Consortium.

“I will emphasize once again that we are talking about an international project, an international oil transportation company. I would also like to remind you that the presidents of Russia and the United States had a telephone conversation just a few hours before that. During the telephone conversation, as confirmed by both sides, U.S. President Donald Trump put forward a proposal to mutually refrain from strikes on energy infrastructure facilities for 30 days. Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted the proposal. Immediately, the Russian president ordered the Russian military to stop these strikes. What about Zelensky and the Kiev regime? They publicly supported the energy ceasefire initiative (and it was Zelensky who did so). But in reality, he ordered the opposite - not to halt attacks, but to carry out new ones. We are talking about another deliberate pre-planned provocation by the Kiev regime,” Maria Zakharova said.

According to her, these actions are aimed at disrupting the peace initiatives proposed by the U.S. president. "Zelensky and the Kiev regime have once again violated the understanding reached, thereby confirming their absolute incapability to negotiate and honor any deals," Maria Zakharova emphasized.
The spokeswoman is convinced that Kiev demonstrated the total lack of political will for peace and diplomatic settlement. "Clearly, the responsibility for this attack and other terrorist acts rests on the shoulders of all countries that keep stubbornly and irresponsibly delivering more and more lethal weapons to Ukraine’s ruling junta, thus encouraging its bloody crimes," she stated.

"At a time when the Kiev regime was supposed to cease strikes on energy infrastructure under the initiative of the U.S. president, which was supported by the Russian side, the regime and Zelensky immediately did the exact opposite. Honestly, I want to ask a question using the Western language: does Zelensky deliberately defy what the U.S. president said or has Zelensky simply lost control over those he supposedly governs? Let them try to answer," Maria Zakharova added.
