MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) - Poland and Lithuania are using Belarus to assert themselves in the international arena, political observer with rubaltic.ru Aleksei Ilyashevich said on the air of the ONT TV channel on 20 November, BelTA has learned.
"In fact, Poland and Lithuania are not doing anything to solve the problem. They enjoy their own toughness. Poland and Lithuania are using Belarus as a means for self-affirmation in the international arena,” Aleksei Ilyashevich said. “Secondly, if we are talking about Poland, prior to the migrant crisis, its relations with Brussels deteriorated badly. The EU imposed sanctions on Poland for neglecting the principles of the rule of law, for failing to adhere to the EU's green agenda, and so on. There are a lot of such controversial points."
According to the expert, Poland is shifting the emphasis, switching attention. "Probably the goal is to ensure that the EU turns a blind eye to its flaws," he stressed.
