Russia sees foreign control behind protests in Belarus

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Protest actions in Belarus have become more radical. The Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs can prove that efforts to destabilize the situation in Belarus were controlled, including from the territory of Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.

“Indeed, we have information that efforts to destabilize the situation in Belarus were controlled, including from the territory of Ukraine,” Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Syromolotov told RIA Novosti in an interview.

In his words, the scale of protests in Belarus is gradually decreasing despite external support. “However, we see that the protests are getting more and more radicalized: fewer people participate in street protests but the number of violent individuals armed with rebars and stones, who intend to take aggressive actions against law enforcement personnel, is rising,” he added.

Oleg Syromolotov added that the Belarusian government realistically evaluates all the threats originating from outside forces. The competent agencies of Russia and Belarus maintain tight cooperation in matters of security, he added.
