MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – European countries are constantly writing Russia off, although they themselves are experiencing great challenges in economy and are on the brink of survival, TASS reports.

Putin recalled that in 2024 the Russian economy grew by 4.3%, “This year growth will be much more modest, but this is done in a bid to curb inflation. And growth in the Eurozone is 0.9%.”

He also commented on the statements of European leaders who claim that the Russian Armed Forces are experiencing problems and the country has suffered strategic defeat. He also gave his take on the spread of myths about Russia's pending attack on NATO countries.

“Their logic escapes me. If everything is falling apart here, why would we attack NATO? Well, they are talking nonsense. They certainly don't believe in it themselves, but they are trying to convince their population of this in order to squeeze more money out of people and to get them to bear this financial burden although it will entail cuts in social security benefits,” he noted.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was in Belarus on a two-day visit. On 26 and 27 June he took part in the Eurasian Economic Forum and the Eurasian Economic Union summit, and also held separate bilateral meetings. At the end of his visit to Minsk, the Russian president gave a press conference. Putin also announced that the next EAEU summit will be held in St. Petersburg in the run-up to the New Year.
