MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) – Complicated issues can be tackled together with leaders of European countries if they get enough courage to defend national interests. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement at a meeting with heads of international news agency in response to a question of BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich, BelTA has learned.

Irina Akulovich asked Vladimir Putin how easy or complicated it is to resolve disputable points in Belarus-Russia relations.

Vladimir Putin said: “The good-natured character and the mood of the general public on both sides allows always finding solutions. They are sometimes non-trivial however odd it may seem. It may seem that everything is routine in our relations. But it is not. We have to make some efforts all the time in order to find answers to emerging questions. We manage to accomplish everything. I am sure things will stay this way in the future.”

Irina Akulovich asked the Russian leader whether it is possible to find such solutions with leaders of European countries.

“We could find them if they felt more confident and had more courage to defend national interests. I think the colleagues are likely to talk more about it here,” Vladimir Putin responded.
