Putin: Partnership ties are vital for Russia-Belarus cooperation

PSKOV, 14 October (BelTA) - Partnership ties are traditionally an important component of Russian-Belarusian interregional cooperation, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his greetings to the participants and guests of the 11th Belarusian-Russian twin city meeting in Pskov. Pskov Oblast Governor Mikhail Vedernikov read out the president's message of greetings, BelTA has learned.

“I cordially greet you on the occasion of the opening of the 11th meeting of the twin-cities of Russia and Belarus. Partnership ties uniting over 160 cities and towns of our countries are traditionally an important component of the Russian-Belarusian interregional cooperation, an important and effective mechanism of public diplomacy. Regular communication of heads of municipal structures and figures of science and culture allows to exchange useful experience, helps to develop and implement promising joint projects in economic, social, infrastructural, humanitarian and other sectors,” the message of greetings runs.

“The motto of today's meeting, “Yes to the Union”, is fully in tune with the urgent task of promoting mutually beneficial integration processes within the Union State. I am confident that you will hold meaningful and constructive discussions, put forward ideas and initiatives that will help further develop multifaceted Russian-Belarusian cooperation for the benefit of our fraternal nations,” said Vladimir Putin.

In his message of greetings, the Russian president thanked the organizers of such a representative meeting, and wished the participants every success and all the best.
