MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The Eurasian Economic Union boasts the deepest degree of integration in the territory of the former Soviet Union. And this integration relies on deeds, not on words. President of Russia Vladimir Putin made the statement at a meeting with heads of foreign news agencies in response to a question from BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Putin said: “The Eurasian Economic Union has the deepest degree of integration in the territory of the former Soviet Union. And it is integrated with deeds, not words. Kazakhstan came forward with the initiative to set up the Eurasian Economic Union back in the day. We are grateful to our friends for it. And this structure develops. No, not everything is simple over there. No, we may not be entirely ready to finalize the creation of common markets in some branches of the energy industry. But we are moving towards it. And we will get there. No doubt about that.”

It will depend on the time and the pace, the Russian president clarified. “You surely know about our constant discussions regarding deliveries of energy resources. We find solutions for them. We sometimes come up with quite original decisions. I am not going to go into details. I don’t want to talk about it in public. But we find them. I am sure we will continue finding them,” he noted. “I am very optimistic about cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, within the framework of bilateral interaction, including the construction of the Union State [of Belarus and Russia].”
“We accomplished a great deal in the last few years. We secured very large percentage figures if we talk about percentages. And we have actually fulfilled nearly our entire plan. We have done very important things in the field of customs service and tax statistics. Taxes and customs are fundamental matters for enabling conditions for future cooperation in economy,” Vladimir Putin added.

The meeting of President of Russia Vladimir Putin with heads of international news agencies took place on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Heads of 14 news agencies took part in it: Azerbaijan, Belarus, UK, Vietnam, Germany, Indonesia, Spain, Kazakhstan, China, Russia, USA, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and France.
