Putin draws attention to violations of refugee rights by Poland, Baltic states

MOSCOW, 14 December (BelTA) – While talking to France President Emmanuel Macron today President of Russia Vladimir Putin drew attention to violations of international commitments regarding the protection of refugee rights by Poland and the Baltic states, the Kremlin press service told BelTA.

Since Emmanuel Macron raised the matter of the situation at the Belarus-EU border, Vladimir Putin noted representatives of the European Union member states should discuss the problem directly with the Belarusian government. Vladimir Putin pointed out that Poland and the Baltic states had violated international commitments regarding the protection of refugee rights and the need to resolve the humanitarian crisis in line with humanitarian law norms. Vladimir Putin said he hopes the migrant problem will be removed from the agenda soon.

Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron also discussed the situation in Ukraine and NATO's expansion to the east.
