MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – Promotion of economic interests is the most important priority and the performance criterion for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said as he spoke at the board meeting of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 25 February to review the performance of the diplomatic service in 2020. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.
“Given the new global and regional realities we need, as the head of state emphasized at the Belarusian People's Congress, to determine the current and long-term foreign policy priorities,” the head of the ministry stressed. "In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to draft a new concept of the foreign policy of the Republic of Belarus."
Vladimir Makei also noted: "While being committed to the multi-vector foreign policy, development of dialogue and mutually beneficial, constructive cooperation with all foreign partners, we need to more clearly define the key areas of our cooperation with them. At the same time, promotion of economic interests remains ourmain performance criterion.”
The minister noted that in 2020 not all plans were realized due to the increased challenges and the sanctions pressure on Belarus.
