Promotion of Belarus' initiatives on the pan-Asian platform discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 28 January (BelTA) – Ways to reinvigorate cooperation between Belarus and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and to promote Belarusian initiatives on the pan-Asian platform have been discussed in Minsk at a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov and CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belarusian foreign minister thanked the CICA secretary general for accepting the invitation to come to Belarus to monitor the presidential election. He also noted that electoral sovereignty is an important element of national security.

“The parties explored the possibilities to ramp up cooperation between Belarus and the CICA and to promote Belarusian initiatives on the pan-Asian platform. They noted that Belarus is ready to play an active role in implementing goals and objectives of the CICA,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs remarked.

Maksim Ryzhenkov emphasized the importance of the CICA as a regional platform that works out effective measures  and mechanisms to maintain security in Asia in the current geopolitical conditions. The foreign minister called on the CICA to play an active role in promoting the vision of the Common Vision of a Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st century.
