Prime minister: Belarus and Russia advance cooperation across the board

MINSK, 20 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia advance cooperation along all the key avenues. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Yevgeny Lukyanov, BelTA has learned.

Roman Golovchenko said: “We are glad that such a well-trained and experienced diplomat, a statesman has come to Belarus as the ambassador of Russia. You've come in a period of very active bilateral interaction on all projects. We advance cooperation across the board. This year's agenda is extensive. The Belarusian government is involved in all these processes. My counterpart (the Russian prime minister) and I actively work on documents meant to deepen economic integration of our countries, enable conditions for commercial entities to allow us to grow in a coordinated manner and use each other's advantages. The role of ambassadors in it is very important.”

The prime minister noted that a number of important events will be held this year, including a Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, sessions of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia and the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. “I am convinced you will promptly and deeply immerse yourself into our bilateral agenda and will actively and constructively interact with us,” he stressed.

In turn, Yevgeny Lukyanov noted that in bilateral interaction it is necessary to strive for a synergetic effect from precisely coordinated efforts of different agencies and various competences. “One would be hard pressed to find a match for the quality of the bilateral relations that exist between our countries. Our heads of state should be credited for it as well as heads of ministries and government agencies on both sides, heads of diplomatic missions,” he stressed.
