Press secretary: Lukashenko's views are heard, respected in SCO

MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko is heard and respected in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Press Secretary of the Belarusian President Natalya Eismont said in an interview with the First News TV Channel following the president's working visit to China, where the SCO summit took place, BelTA has learned.
“The main conclusion I can draw is that the president of Belarus is heard and respected in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization,” the press secretary stated.
Natalya Eismont noted that in over 10 years of working with the president, she could not recall a visit of such intensity and richness. “It was a five‑day marathon,” she said.

The press secretary shared that she is often asked about the head of state’s impressions after a particular event or visit. “I want to be absolutely honest. It is not common for the president to say, after working at full capacity, that ‘we did an excellent job’ or that ‘something didn't go as planned.’ Certainly, the president sums up the results. Certainly, he sets tasks afterward. The president has a habit of asking ‘What went wrong?’ after any event, even if it was a success. It’s all about working for results,” Natalya Eismont noted. “And after any highly successful visit, the president also understands perfectly well that the most important thing is what follows that visit: how his subordinates will organize their work going forward, how they will move ahead and implement what he has agreed upon.”
According to the press secretary, the same applies to the visit to China for the SCO summit. “Certainly, we understand that this was extremely important for us. But the most essential part is still ahead. The president raised many matters that will need to be addressed within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. He spoke about the most important things: security, simplifying trade procedures, the economy, independent financial institutions, logistics, transport, the humanitarian dimension, science, and innovation,” Natalya Eismont added.
