ASHGABAT, 24 May (BelTA) - Belarus highly values friendly relations with Turkmenistan, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdimuhamedow on 24 May, BelTA has learned.

“Since independence, the interaction between Belarus and Turkmenistan has been built on the principles of mutual respect and partnership. This has been facilitated, in particular, by many years of good and trustworthy relations between the leaders of the two states,” Roman Golovchenko said.

According to the prime minister, the countries effectively cooperate and support each other within the international organizations. In the post-pandemic period, interaction in the humanitarian sector, primarily in education, sports and culture, has been gradually restoring.

Roman Golovchenko thanked the authorities of Turkmenistan for their trust in the education of Turkmen students in Belarus and expressed interest in restoring the pre-COVID practice of training specialists in Belarus for most in-demand economic sectors in Turkmenistan.

The head of government also emphasized that Belarus and Turkmenistan have a number of areas in which effective cooperation is of mutual interest. “These are primarily agricultural, industrial, construction and transportation sectors. Belarus reaffirms its interest in the dynamic development of relations with Turkmenistan and is ready to take concrete practical steps to find mutually acceptable solutions to any issues that impede the continuation of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation,” he stressed.

The prime minister added that Belarus is set for a constructive dialogue and is ready to deepen cooperation in the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
