PM: About 700 guests will be invited to  Belarusian People’s Congress

MINSK, 18 April (BelTA) – Following a meeting hosted by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to discuss preparations for the Belarusian People’s Congress, Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko told journalists who would be invited to the event as guests, BelTA has learned.

During the meeting, the president was briefed on how organizational issues were dealt with.

“Today, almost everything is ready, organizational and technical issues have been resolved, delegates to the congress have been determined, and the capital city is preparing to host this crucial political event,” said Roman Golovchenko. “By the way, there will be a lot of invitees - about 700 people. Regional delegations will be able to see with their own eyes what will be going on here and to convey these ideas to residents of respective regions and cities.”

In addition, foreign guests were invited to attend: heads of interstate associations and foreign ambassadors. “Representatives of the West... They have embassies here, if they want to come, they will. But we don’t see the point in sending personal invitations,” the prime minister emphasized. “This event is meant primarily for the Belarusian people. That’s what we proceeded from,” he added.
