MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) - The ultimate goal of external forces is to change the government system and power in Belarus, Secretary of the Security Council of Russia Nikolai Patrushev told reporters on 29 June, BelTA informs.
“Their ultimate goal is to change the order and power in Belarus. We have been witnessing it in the recent time. And you, who are living in Belarus, see even more of it,” Nikolai Patrushev said.
He explained that today's consultations of the security councils of Belarus and Russia were planned. “Our security councils regularly share opinions on the situation. We are talking about challenges and threats which both Belarus and Russia are facing. And this time we will mostly discuss hybrid wars as well as regional and international security,” Nikolai Patrushev said. “Alongside with traditional challenges, such as, for example, terrorism and extremism which did not go away, we must pay more attention to information security and some other issues.”
“The president of Belarus and I shared opinions and ideas on these topics,” he continued. “Our estimates are not just close. They are fully in sync. Of course, we join and will join efforts to act together against these challenges and threats.”
The secretary of the Security Council of Russia deems it necessary to pay attention to external influence. “I have spoken about information security. It is also essential to pay attention to NGOs, their activities. When they say that they are independent, it is absolutely not true,” he is convinced. “It is necessary to find out where they take financing and who they are accountable to, how they spend this financing. Then we will see the whole picture. Law enforcement agencies and security services of every country should work here and share information. Of course, we also count on the general public that provides information to us. Then we realize what role they play, who they are accountable to, and what goals they pursue.”
