MINSK, 2 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are working out their own development model, while the West can only propagate its own one, Ph.D. in History Vadim Gigin, Dean of the Philosophy and Social Sciences Faculty of Belarusian State University, told the ONT TV channel, BelTA reports.
Vadim Gigin noted that Belarus is at the junction of civilizations and has traditionally been considered part of the East Slavic civilization.
“For Belarusians, an alliance with Russia is quite natural. Another reason why the alliance with Russia is so important to us is that Belarus and Russia decide on the rules of the game on their own, sometimes quarreling, entering into conflicts. The adversary rejoices, but we are developing our model. And the West offers a ready-made model, even without a possibility to discuss it,” the historian said.
