Opinion: Belarus, Oman have huge potential to expand cooperation

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – Belarus and Oman have everything in place to intensify bilateral cooperation in various fields, Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) Vladimir Ulakhovich said at the Belarus-Oman online business forum, BelTA informs with reference to the BelCCI website.

According to Vladimir Ulakhovich, it is impossible to hold offline meetings due to a number of restrictions in place. At the same time, the online forum can be of great help in building contacts between Belarusian and Omani enterprises that are interested in developing partnerships. “Despite the distance between our countries and the current restrictions, we see significant potential for bilateral cooperation in various fields – in the manufacturing industry, food production, information technology and others. The BelCCI and our counterparts – the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) - are ready to provide platforms for communication for businesses, arrange joint events and participate in exhibitions. Of particular importance is the work of the Belarus-Oman Business Council that will certainly convene in Minsk or Muscat as soon as such an opportunity opens up,” the BelCCI head noted.

The participants of the forum discussed in detail the current state and prospects of Belarus-Oman trade and economic cooperation in the manufacturing industry, agriculture and food, investment and joint projects in the two countries, including within the framework of the existing preferential regimes, as well as mechanisms for supporting business contacts by the chambers of commerce and industry, and a possibility of arranging a meeting of the Belarus-Oman Business Council and other events involving Belarusian and Omani businesses and organizations in 2021-2022.

Taking part in the online meeting were Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Redha bin Jumah Al Saleh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt with concurrent accreditation to the Sultanate of Oman Sergei Terentyev, Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade of Belarus Vladimir Koltovich, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Belarus Aleksei Bogdanov, experts of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus, the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone, the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones of Oman and business representatives of the two countries.

The Belarus - Oman business forum was organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
