MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – Belarus has never been the initiator of political or economic conflicts, BelTA learned from Chairwoman of the Economy, Budget, and Finance Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Tatiana Runets on 12 July.
The press service of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament quoted the senator as saying: “Understanding that the system is impossible to break, our opponents are trying to use any methods even – I am not afraid of this word – terrorist ones. How else can we describe attempts on lives of peaceful people, including small kids? It is impossible to remain indifferent to such endeavors. I would like to once again call upon my fellow Belarusians to see the true face of the so-called ‘freedom fighters'. A war for the future of our country is in progress. The enemy has one goal: to create chaos, to destroy everything Belarusians have worked hard to create, to sow dissent in our families and homes. What kind of democracy is it if we are threatened with Molotov's cocktails in response to bold political statements?”
In her words, throughout its history Belarus has never been the initiator of political or economic conflicts. “Today we are forced to defend the sovereignty and security of the country as a whole and every citizen in particular. The situation with the parliamentarian Gaidukevich once again confirms the president's words that terrorist cells operate in the country, so-called self-defense units as they call themselves. Attempts to upset the situation continue unabated. And citizens should be ready to counteract such threats,” the senator stressed. “We are a nation that lived through a lot during the Great Patriotic War, a nation that has never been on its knees, and we will continue fighting for truth and justice.”
