Opinion: Belarus and China face common threats

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Belarus and China face common threats. Sanctions against Belarus will be followed by sanctions against China. Yang Jun, Director of the Belarusian Studies Center under the Sichuan International Studies University, made the statement during a videoconference held to discuss Belarus-China relations in conditions of modern geopolitical turbulence, BelTA has learned.

Yang Jun said: “China's stance in Belarus is open: the government in the country can be changed only by constitutional means, any possibility of foreign interference in Belarusian affairs is ruled out. It is important for peace to come to Belarus and for the economy to grow. It quite matches the five principles of peaceful coexistence that China put forward in 1954.”

In his words, global cooperation in the post-global period is becoming more and more important and necessary. “Belarus and China face common threats. Sanctions against Belarus will be followed by sanctions against China. We are not afraid of it and are actively preparing for it,” he added.
