MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) - Electoral processes in Belarus are open and transparent, Gulnoza Rakhimova, a permanent member of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan, told the media following her meeting with Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Igor Karpenko, BelTA has learned.
"There are constructive relations between the central election commissions of Uzbekistan and Belarus. We hope for further development and strengthening of cooperation, new results, greater success in mutual exchange of experience in connection with the election of the new leadership of the Belarusian Central Election Commission. A delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in observing the parliamentary and presidential elections in Belarus. Now our delegation has arrived in Belarus to observe the referendum. During the days we have been in Minsk, we have seen that the election processes are open and transparent. We can also see it by the way these issues are covered on national TV channels and by the Central Election Commission. We wish Belarus a successful referendum,” said Gulnoza Rakhimova.
On 26 February, Igor Karpenko met with a delegation of the central election commissions of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. He told them about the progress of the election campaign in Belarus. In turn, international observers expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation.
