Nigeria keen to boost import of Belarusian educational services

MINSK, 28 July (BelTA) – Belarusian Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky met with a delegation of the Nigerian Ministry of Interior at the Education Center of Life Safety of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry on 28 July, BelTA learned from the Emergencies Ministry press service.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to expand the legal framework of bilateral cooperation and to develop professional ties between educational institutions, and other agencies of the ministries.

The parties focused on ways to increase export of Belarusian educational services to Nigeria. They reaffirmed commitment to maintain mutually beneficial cooperation to train Nigerian specialists at the Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry. Since 2003, 88 Nigerian specialists have undergone training at the university's Institute for Retraining and Professional Development.

The parties also reviewed the promising areas of cooperation in personnel training, including signing a memorandum of understanding between the Civil Protection University and the Nigerian National Fire Academy and training of Nigerian specialists in the field of fire investigations.

In view of the developing political, trade and economic relations between Belarus and Nigeria, the parties also discussed areas of cooperation in providing resources and equipment to firefighting and rescue divisions, including increasing supplies of Belarusian machinery, firefighting equipment, and personal protective gear to Nigeria.

The Nigerian delegation also visited firefighting and rescue station No.30 in Minsk.
