MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - The United States of America and its European allies keep in contact with nationalists in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States to implement the Ukrainian scenario in these states, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said at the 20th meeting of the heads of security and intelligence agencies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Moscow on 26 November, TASS reports.
"Washington, London, Brussels are working on the options to implement the so-called Ukrainian scenario in individual countries of the CIS. This is about the fostering of narrow-minded parochial nationalism under the pretext of strengthening national identity and pushing for integration with the West. There are reports of lasting contacts between U.S. and European special services with nationalist parties and movements in the CIS," he said.
The director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service stressed that the special services of the United States and Britain have set themselves "the ambitious task of severing not only political and economic relations but also deep historical and even geographical ties between the states” of the CIS.
"Affiliated non-governmental organizations and the media, as part of achieving this goal, have been instructed to stop acting head-on, shift the emphasis to the so-called decolonization, and more actively engage local scholars and cultural figures, urbanists and human rights activists in cooperation," Sergey Naryshkin added.
According to him, U.S. foreign policy after Donald Trump returns to the White House will remain focused on undermining the integration processes in Eurasia.
"We have yet to see how Washington's foreign policy will change (if it will) under Trump. However, I am sure that the USA’s focus on undermining the integration processes on the Eurasian continent will remain unchanged," he said.
"Anglo-Saxons love to divide in order to rule. We, on the contrary, need to unite even more in order to live in peace and security, regardless of any external adventures of degrading totalitarian-liberal Western regimes," Sergey Naryshkin said.
