MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) – The world has entered a period of serious crisis, a bloc confrontation is taking shape, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Andrei Savinykh told the First National Channel of the Belarusian Radio, BelTA informs.
“We need to clearly understand what kind of period the global civilization is going through. Let's recall what the world was like 10-15 years ago, when international relations and cooperation were developing. Back then we tried to make the most of international contacts in order to increase exports, we tried to build contacts with as many countries as possible and to explore various markets and establish our presence nearly in all countries of the world. Our efforts bore fruit, but recently the situation has changed. We have entered a period of quite a serious crisis, we see the formation of a bloc confrontation. We see things going sour in literally all areas of international cooperation,” Andrei Savinykh said.
According to him, the very essence of diplomacy is changing. “We used to expand contacts, now we should deepen them. We should take a closer look at those countries with which we have already built good neighborly relations and with which a certain interdependence has emerged at all levels: political, humanitarian, and technological. We need to see what else we can do to make our presence in these countries even more noticeable. That is, we are moving from the breadth of contacts to the depth of contacts,” the parliamentarian stressed.
