MP: Belarus is open to constructive cooperation

MINSK, 6 July (BelTA) – Belarus has not closed its door on anyone and is open to constructive cooperation, Sergei Syrankov, a member of the Standing Commission tee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, secretary for ideology of the Central Committee of the Communist Part of Belarus, told the media in Minsk on 6 July, BelTA has learned.

"It is necessary to understand that the position of the EU governments in relation to our country, to the sanctions policy against the Belarusian people is fundamentally different from the position of people of the European states. Therefore, today, using parliamentary diplomacy, we are trying to convey through our comrades, through representatives of the left-patriotic movements of Europe, including the Communist Parties (in this case the Communist Party of Switzerland), the information about the objective situation in our country, about the processes that are taking place here," Sergei Syrankov said.

Belarus is ready and open to cooperation, the MP noted. "We have not closed our door on anyone and are ready for productive and constructive cooperation with all interested countries," he added.

Members of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives are meeting with member of the Communist Party of Switzerland Davide Rossi.

"During the meeting, we are set to discuss the social and political situation and the prospects for cooperation with the Communist Party of Switzerland. Our guest is a professor who is savvy in matters of politics, philosophy and international relations. I am sure that this visit will be productive, and that the guest will be able to convey the objective situation about our country to the Swiss community," Sergei Syrankov emphasized.

Professor Davide Rossi came to Belarus to take part in Independence Day celebrations. In addition, he is set to visit government agencies of Belarus and to meet with the leadership of the Communist Party of Belarus to discuss ways to promote Belarus-Switzerland dialogue.
