Moscow to host conference to celebrate 20 years of Belarus-Russia Union State

MOSCOW, 29 November (BelTA) - The conference “The Union State: Achievements, Challenges, and Prospects” will be held in Moscow on 10 December. It is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the Union State Treaty, BelTA learned from the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, which is the organizer of the event.

The conference will bring together about 500 participants from Belarus and Russia representing all branches of government, business, academic and cultural community, mass media. The conference will feature the plenary and six panel discussions: on the approximation of legislation, the formation of the common economic space, modernization of transport infrastructure, social policy in the Union State, cooperation in security and counter-terrorism.

Among the speakers of the event are State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Semashko, Russian Ambassador to Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev, Belarus Prosecutor General Aleksandr Konyuk, Belarusian Information Minister Aleksandr Karlyukevich, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Pankin, CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Tigran Sargsyan, deputy head of Belarus Constitutional Court Natalia Karpovich, representatives of the executive, legislative and regional authorities in Belarus and Russia.
