MOSCOW, 20 November (BelTA) - A joint meeting of the collegiums of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Russia will be held in Moscow on 25 November, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a news briefing, BelTA has learned.
“At the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov will visit Moscow on 24-25 November for a working visit to participate in the annual joint meeting of the collegiums of the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries,” Maria Zakharova said.
She recalled that such meetings have been held annually since 2000, alternating between Belarus and Russia, and serve as an effective mechanism for synchronizing the two countries' efforts on the international stage. “During the upcoming event, the parties will take stock of the interim results of implementing the decisions of the previous meeting and the program of concerted actions in foreign policy of the states party to the Union State Treaty for 2024-2026. The parties are set to discuss then interaction regarding the joint use of diplomatic tools to promote traditional values and preserve historical memory,” Maria Zakharova said.
“The parties are expected to consider ways to further deepen the coordination of approaches regarding cooperation with friendly countries and associations, building relations with unfriendly regimes (the states where the unfriendly regimes are currently entrenched) and unfriendly organizations, including countering their sanction and legal aggression,” the diplomat noted.
According to her, special attention will be paid to exchanging experiences in the information support of foreign policy. Following the meeting, the parties are set to sing the resolution of the collegium meeting and a plan for ministerial consultations for 2026.
“On the sidelines of the event, the foreign ministers of Russia and Belarus will discuss bilateral cooperation and foreign policy interaction, including the diplomatic support of the Union State integration processes and also exchange views on the international agenda,” Maria Zakharova added.
