MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - The sixth meeting of the Belarusian-Chinese intergovernmental cooperation committee was held in Minsk. It was presided by Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov and Vice Premier of the State Council of China Liu Guozhong, BelTA learned.
Nikolai Snopkov emphasized that it is more important than ever for the parties to demonstrate the strength and inviolability of the Belarusian-Chinese cooperation and the firm policy to preserve the common historical memory. "It is gratifying that despite the tense geopolitical situation in the world, global trade confrontation and continuous sanctions pressure on our countries, we have not retreated one step from our commitments and maintain the warmest and mutually beneficial relations. We work in the spirit of all-weather strategic partnership in key areas of bilateral cooperation," he said.

In the political domain, the countries have reached an unprecedented level of trust, Nikolai Snopkov added. "We provide each other with unconditional support on the most important issues on the international and bilateral agendas, jointly promote the initiative within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS. Together we participate in building the Belt and Road and promoting the human community with a shared future, facilitating high-quality development of our countries for the benefit of citizens of our countries," he noted.
Belarus is proud of the successes of the People's Republic of China in socialist modernization, overcoming existing economic difficulties related to the sanctions pressure, and promoting Chinese diplomacy on the international stage.

"We are happy that our Chinese colleagues have met the U.S. halfway and agreed to negotiations on mutual tariff reductions. We strongly support this wise decision by China. We hope that the 'tariff hysteria' will eventually come to an end and will no longer hinder the sustainable development of not only China but the entire world," Nikolai Snopkov said.
The all-weather and all-round strategic partnership between Belarus and China is picking up steam and has reached its peak, Chinese Vice Premier Liu Guozhong noted. "In 2023, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited China twice. In July 2024, our leaders met at the SCO summit in Astana. That meeting set the tone and gave momentum to China-Belarus relations, determining the direction of their further development," he stated.
The intergovernmental committee is designed to facilitate cooperative ties and coordinate actions between the two countries, Liu Guozhong believes. "Our main task is to implement important high-level agreements. I am convinced that with joint efforts, we will achieve good results, which will give a powerful boost to bilateral multifaceted cooperation and enrich bilateral relations with new content," the Chinese vice premier summarized.

Following the sixth meeting of the intergovernmental committee, four documents were signed: the protocol of the sixth meeting of the Belarus-China intergovernmental cooperation committee, a protocol on amendments to the agreement on the establishment of the committee between the governments of Belarus and China, a memorandum of understanding on strengthening investment cooperation in the digital economy between the Belarusian Economy Ministry, the Belarusian Communications and Informatization Ministry and the Chinese Commerce Ministry, as well as a protocol of the commission of the Belarusian State Committee for Science and Technology and the Chinese Science and Technology Ministry on defining flagship projects for 2025-2026. The protocol of the intergovernmental committee meeting formalized the intention to declare 2026-2027 as thematic years of industrial cooperation in Belarus-China relations.
