Minsk forum on European security to draw participants from 60 countries

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Minsk will host a large-scale international conference “European Security: Stepping Back from the Brink” on 7-8 October, Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a press briefing in Minsk on 20 September, BelTA has learned.

The main organizer of the event is the Minsk Dialogue Council on International Relations. For the second time, the Minsk Dialogue will bring together prominent current and former politicians, diplomats and MPs, representatives of the OSCE, the EAEU, the CSTO and NATO, authoritative political scientists and experts, including the heads of the major analytical centers and think tanks from the United States, China, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Russia, Ukraine and a number of other EU and CIS countries. All in all, more than 500 participants from about 60 countries are expected to attend the event.

Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei is expected to take part in the event. “Thanks to a representative and balanced character, the forum will be able to discuss a wide range of international security issues. The meetings and discussions will focus on approaches to overcome contradictions and confrontations on the European continent and ideas for updating the modern security architecture, ensuring strategic stability, arms control, information security, and alignment of the EU, the EAEU and China's initiative,” Anatoly Glaz noted.
