MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) - The CIS heads of state summit is scheduled to take place in Dushanbe on 10 October, while Minsk is set to host the CIS Heads of Government Council on 30 September, CIS First Deputy Secretary General Igor Petrishenko told the media on 17 June, BelTA has learned.
The CIS plenipotentiaries are holding a visiting session at the EcoTechnoPark-Volma resource center in Dzerzhinsk District, Belarus on 17 June. The CIS plenipotentiaries are expected to take stock of the CIS Heads of Government Council meeting, which took place in Dushanbe on 5 June, and outline tasks for the implementation of the adopted documents and reached agreements.
“The CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting will take place in Dushanbe on 9 October. The Heads of State Council will meet on 10 October. Today, the preliminary agenda will be reviewed and discussed. The CIS Heads of Government Council will meet in Minsk on 30 September (this decision was made in Dushanbe). Today, we will discuss all the issues that need to be included in the agenda so that the meetings have a powerful synergistic integration effect and we can further develop our interaction and cooperation,” Igor Petrishenko said.
The CIS plenipotentiaries will also consider proposals for the draft agendas of the upcoming autumn meetings of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council, the Heads of Government Council, and the Heads of State Council.
“Decisions were made on 18 issues. The key ones are the agreement on cooperation between CIS countries in heavy machinery manufacturing. Most of the production in our countries is related to this industry. I believe that the agreement initiated by the Republic of Tajikistan will serve to promote active cooperation between the relevant enterprises in our countries. A concept for developing cooperation in the light industry sector has also been approved. This is also a key element. We function as a self-sufficient market. We have everything - cotton and wool. This concept is aimed at supporting our producers, preserving and increasing production in traditional areas. This includes carpet production, clothing manufacturing, and the exchange of experience related to new advanced technologies and the re-equipment of our production facilities,” Igor Petrishenko said.
A Volunteers Forum will be an annual event in the CIS. The regulations governing the CIS Volunteers Forum were also approved at the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Dushanbe. “This is an initiative of Kazakhstan. The volunteer movement is very active in our countries. Annual festivals and volunteer competitions will serve to further strengthen our cooperation, exchange best practices, and involve our people even more in this noble cause,” the first deputy secretary general emphasized.
The badge “For the Development of Tourism in the CIS” has been established. “With this badge, we plan to encourage active representatives of the CIS countries in the field of tourism. This area is very important for all CIS countries, as we travel within the CIS without visas. There are many interesting places that our citizens visit in the CIS countries. This includes industrial, medical, recuperation, and ethnographic tourism. Therefore, it is important for us to stimulate and encourage those who are actively involved in the development of the tourism sector,” Igor Petrishenko added. “A number of decisions related to regional and cross-border cooperation were also adopted.”
