Minsk comments on Tikhanovskaya's possible participation in EU's Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels

MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) - At the request of journalists, Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on how the official Minsk assesses the information on possible participation of former Belarusian presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya in the events of the EU's Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, BelTA has learned.

“This, of course, could have been funny and curious if it had not been so sad. In fact, it is quite obvious that such actions, if any, are an brazen and blatant interference in the internal affairs of our country and total disrespect for its citizens. Why conduct election if one from the outside can simply appoint a certain subject convenient in all respects and pretend to build a relationship with him or her? After such steps, in my opinion, no one will have to prove that the course to undermine the sovereignty of Belarus is being implemented,” Anatoly Glaz said.

“Our principled and clear position on the matter has already been communicated to the EU representative in Minsk, as well as to the relevant persons in Brussels," added the press secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
