Military expert: Poland's actions need an objective evaluation

MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – Poland's actions require an objective evaluation. The Russian military expert and reporter Ivan Konovalov made the statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.

Ivan Konovalov said: “It has become clear that Poland has created a humanitarian catastrophe that had to be resolved and Poland refused to deal with it. And it is seriously working against Poland. Poland has overplayed it. It should have stopped earlier.”

Polish law enforcement personnel use water cannons against refugees at the Belarusian border checkpoint Bruzgi on 16 November.

Ivan Konovalov said that the crisis will be resolved anyway. “Europe's key powers are now involved in the resolution of the crisis and the relevant negotiations are now in progress. But I hope that Poland's actions will be given an objective evaluation without taking into account the fact that Poland is a member of the European Union and NATO and deems itself the USA's primary ally. These factors should be disregarded. I hope that the European Union will give Poland its due for what the country has done,” he stated.
