MFA: Belarus takes over CIS chairmanship in 2021, will work to strengthen its international standing

MINSK, 26 November (BelTA) - Belarus remains committed to the CIS integration processes, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media following the joint meeting of the collegiums of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs in Minsk on 26 November, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian minister stressed: "Holding the CIS chairmanchip in 2021, we will be focused on systematic work to strengthen the CIS, raise its role and increase its authority in the international arena."

Vladimir Makei also noted that Belarus hopes for Russia's continuous comprehensive support of its initiatives to deepen the integration in the EAEU and the CIS.

The Belarusian minister of foreign affairs thanked his counterpart Sergey Lavrov and all colleagues for participating in the meeting of the collegiums and once again noted a truly unique format of bilateral communication, which "helps to quickly discuss and find mutually acceptable solutions to any problem in the bilateral relations and develop concerted approaches to current issues on the international agenda.”
