Medinsky: Russia is open to peace talks with Ukraine

MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) - Russia is open to peace talks with Ukraine, Vladimir Medinsky, an aide to the Russian president, the head of the Russian delegation at the talks with Ukraine, told TASS on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

According to Vladimir Medinsky, the way Kiev approaches the negotiation process suggests that it does not need peace.

"Two months have passed, but so far Ukraine has not even bothered to respond to this officially, having told us verbally that it is taking a pause in the negotiations," Vladimir Medinsky said.

For his part, spokesman for the Russian president Dmitry Peskov noted that the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine are now stalled. In his opinion, the negotiations are unlikely to resume.
