Mayor: Minsk is eager to promote cooperation with Türkiye

MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) - Minsk is eager to strengthen cooperation with Türkiye in various fields, Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to the Republic of Belarus Cem İsık, BelTA has learned. 

"We see great potential for cooperation between our countries and are ready to work to create more favorable conditions for business and strengthen cultural ties," Vladimir Kukharev said. He stressed that Minsk is a scientific, industrial and IT hub and expressed confidence that bilateral relations in these areas will be mutually beneficial. 

The Turkish ambassador noted the warm relations between the countries, stressing that they are built on mutual respect and mutual interests. "When we talk about Minsk, the first associations that come to mind are order, cleanliness and calm. The city is organized well, which makes it attractive for tourists," Ambassador Cem İsık said. He added that his family feels safe and comfortable in Minsk, and expressed gratitude for the high level of city organization.

The ambassador also pointed out the importance of cultural exchange, noting that the Turkish side is ready to consider proposals for organizing the Days of Turkish Culture in Minsk and the Days of Culture of Minsk in Türkiye. "We receive proposals to organize the screening of Turkish films in Minsk, and we are ready to contribute to this project," he added.

The parties discussed the possibilities of further development of sister city cities, cooperation in economy, healthcare, education and culture. Vladimir Kukharev noted that the twinning agreements with Turkish cities are an important step towards closer economic and cultural relations, and expressed readiness to consider specific action plans for their implementation.

The Turkish ambassador expressed support for the initiative to hold the Days of Culture of Minsk in Turkish cities and stressed that Turkish business is interested in investing in the economy of Minsk.
