Makei, Zas discuss international, regional security

MINSK, 1 November (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei has met with Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas who is on a working visit to Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Vladimir Makei and Stanislav Zas exchanged views on the current state of international and regional security and explored promising areas of cooperation in the CSTO, including in the context of Belarus' chairmanship in the organization in 2023.

The parties reviewed the results of the extraordinary session of the CSTO Collective Security Council held via video link on 28 October 2022, and discussed preparations for the upcoming meetings of the CSTO statutory bodies - the session of the Collective Security Council and the joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of Defense Ministers and the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils.

Vladimir Makei thanked Stanislav Zas for his work as CSTO Secretary General over the past three years, and spoke highly of his contribution to the development of the organization and strengthening collective security in the CSTO area of ​​responsibility.
