MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei had a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The foreign ministers talked at length about the development of the post-election situation in Belarus and exchanged opinions on the response from western partners and cooperation within the OSCE.
The parties also discussed Belarus-Russia bilateral cooperation, including prospects for reopening the Belarusian-Russian border that was closed due to the coronavirus.
“Sergey Lavrov resolutely condemned attempts of foreign interference in Belarus' domestic affairs and expressed firm support for the sovereignty and independence of Belarus,” the ministry noted.
