Makei disappointed by OSCE Ministerial Council meeting

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei shared his impressions of the recent OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Stockholm in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Frankly speaking, the impressions of the OSCE Ministerial Council are sad, because I see that the OSCE has actually turned into a confrontation platform where no one wants to hear sound reasoning, sound voices. Statements on Belarus and Russia looked like carbon copy documents, the same claims were voiced. I think that this circular note was definitely prepared somewhere in Washington or Brussels. The words of a number of my counterparts sounded exactly the same,” the foreign minister said.

According to Vladimir Makei, it is necessary to stop escalating tensions. “We are ready for this. We have put forward specific proposals. It is clear that this will not happen overnight, we have already gone through this. I believe that there is always a way out of any situation, including the current standoff between Belarus and the European Union,” he said.
