Lukashenko treats foreign leaders to Belarusian-style dinner after Eurasian forum

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – After attending the official part of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Minsk on 26 June, the heads of state and other distinguished guests continued their communication in an informal setting over dinner, Press Secretary of the President of Belarus Natalya Eismont told the First News TV Channel, BelTA reports.

“After focused work at the Eurasian Economic Forum, the heads of state had dinner. They kept working, but in a slightly different setting. We understood that we needed to show how genuine, beautiful and sincere Belarusian hospitality is. Hospitality is our national trait. And I would say that the president is the most hospitable person in this country. And thus the task was to create a very cordial and inviting atmosphere,” the press secretary said.

She went on saying that the reception consisted of several parts. Upon arriving at the location where the dinner was served, the guests were greeted the Belarusian way. “There were our national instruments - cymbals, as well as bread and salt, we offered our national drinks, liqueurs,” Natalya Eismont shared the details.

After that a small presentation and a tasting of domestic dairy and meat products, as well as Belarusian bread, were held for the distinguished guests. The heads of state liked the treats, and many had already been familiar with Belarusian products, which had been presented to them personally by the head of state.

“The dinner menu featured Belarusian iconic foods, like draniki. All distinguished guests ask us to make real Belarusian draniki. Not a single event, lunch or dinner in our country can do without this,” the press secretary said.

After that a small concert was held for the heads of state. The concert program featured opera music, Soviet classics, as well as contemporary Belarusian songs. All this fostered a positive and open environment for discussion and dialogue on a range of topics.
