
MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) - China is sincerely proud to have such a long-time and good friend as Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Zhang Qingwei, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Chairman of the High-Level Committee on Cooperation between the Legislative Bodies of Belarus and China, said as he met with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 13 June, BelTA has learned.
Zhang Qingwei thanked the Belarusian head of state for the opportunity to meet, despite the Belarusian leader's busy schedule. He also conveyed sincere greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping. Zhang Qingwei added that the leaders of the two countries had recently met in Beijing and reached a number of important agreements.
“Mr. President, you are very well known in China. The Chinese people know you well. We are sincerely proud that the Chinese people have such a long-time and good friend,” said Zhang Qingwei.

Thanks to the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, Chinese-Belarusian relations have been recently developing at a high level as an all-weather and comprehensive strategic partnership, he said. “China expresses its readiness to regard high-level agreements with Belarus as the main guideline for enhancing traditional friendship and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as for strengthening cooperation in the international arena with a view to modernizing our countries and reviving our nations,” the deputy chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress said.
He said that prior to the high-level event, the Chinese delegation visited Victory Square in Minsk and laid wreaths at the monument to honor the memory of the great heroes of Belarus who participated in World War II. Taking the opportunity, Zhang Qingwei congratulated the Belarusian leader on the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.
“The Belarusian people were the first to face the enemy, stood their ground, and showed heroism and patriotism. We admire it greatly, and really appreciate the important contribution of the Belarusian people to the victory in the global anti-fascist war,” he emphasized. “Steadfastly committed to ensuring peace worldwide, China is ready to stand firmly alongside Belarus in defending the truth about the results of World War II, upholding international justice, and building a community of common destiny for mankind.”
