MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) - CIS commissioners for human rights met at the Moscow office of the CIS Executive Committee on 15 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

“You have a noble mission to protect human rights. The protection of the rights and legitimate interests of our citizens largely depends on your effective work,” Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told those present at the meeting.

According to him, the need to unite the efforts of human rights commissioners and all government agencies dealing with the problems of ensuring and protecting human rights in the CIS is now more obvious than ever. “The CIS countries are all set to intensify mutually beneficial and mutually respectful cooperation in the human rights protection taking into account regional, national, cultural and historical specifics of our states,” the chairman of the CIS Executive Committee added.
