Lavrov: Russia concerned about USA and EU's attempts to grossly interfere in affairs of Belarus

MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Russia is deeply concerned about the ongoing attempts of the United States and the EU to grossly interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus, while ignoring Minsk's actions to consolidate society and carry out constitutional reform, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the 17th session of the Council of Heads of the CIS Security and Intelligence Agencies, TASS has learned.

"The attempts of Washington and the EU to grossly interfere in the internal affairs of Belarus are of deep concern. Sanctions and political pressure on Minsk continues, while its efforts to consolidate society and carry out constitutional reform are completely ignored. The EU's actions show the true goals for which the so-called Eastern Partnership was established and the price that one has to pay for good relations with the West,” the minister said.

According to him, the United States and its allies continue their crude attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of the CIS countries. Their policy of replacing the governments they find undesirable still remains in place.

“Our solidarity is of crucial importance today as crude attempts by Washington and its allies to interfere in the internal affairs of the CIS states are not ceasing. Their policy of replacing the governments they find undesirable is still in place. It is just that the tactics are changing,” the minister said.
