Lavrov: Lukashenko, Putin are expected to meet soon

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) - Meetings between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin are planned in the near future, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel on 30 June, BelTA has learned.

When asked whether meetings between the presidents are planned in the near future, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry gave an affirmative answer. "The SCO is an obvious thing. The presidents will meet there," Sergey Lavrov said when asked whether he was referring to meetings within the framework of the SCO summit in July.

The Russian foreign minister added that all relations of alliance and strategic partnership between the two countries are based on reciprocity. "All the decisions that are made by the presidents on the development of the Union State, on its foreign policy activity, are based on the principles of reciprocity and a balance of interests. Everything we do is mutually beneficial, in any line of our work. It is this principle that ensures the success of allied relations between Russia and the Republic of Belarus," he said.
