MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are finalizing a bilateral interstate treaty on security guarantees, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said as he spoke at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
"Together with our Belarusian friends, we have drafted a security concept of the Union State and are completing the preparation of a bilateral interstate treaty on security guarantees. A treaty that will be further strengthen the obligations on reliable mutual defense against external threats," the minister said.
He also mentioned the work on security agreements with other states. For example, the agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK was signed and recently entered into force.
In addition to bilateral efforts to strengthen security, multilateral associations such as the SCO, ASEAN, CSTO, CIS, Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and CICA also play a special role in Eurasia. He added.

The upcoming treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership will be a serious factor in strengthening Russian-Iranian relations. The document is in the works and will be signed soon. "Relations of strategic interaction and comprehensive partnership between Russia and China are of paramount importance for stability in Eurasia," the Russian foreign minister stressed.
