MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - Russia’s Armed Forces have attacked Ukrainian military facilities in response to Ukrainian attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a news briefing, TASS reports.
“We have seen how the Ukrainians have been hitting our social infrastructure, peaceful infrastructure. This is a response strike. It’s a strike against military facilities, military targets," he said.
The Kremlin spokesman pointed out that Kiev continues its attacks on Russia, so Moscow is forced to take retaliatory measures.
"President Putin makes the decisions that are necessary for the security of our country. We all witnessed how the Kiev regime threatened foreign leaders before they came to Moscow to commemorate Victory Day. Everyone heard these threats by the Kiev regime. And many leaders who were here witnessed attempts by the Kiev regime to strike Russian territory with drones, large cities, even the capital, on the eve of such an important day. These attempts continue. We are forced to take measures,” Dmitry Peskov noted.
On Sunday, Russia launched high-precision strikes on military facilities on Ukrainian soil, following days of unprecedented massive drone attacks from Kiev. Among the targets were Ukrainian defense plants that manufacture missile and drone components, as well as electronic intelligence and satellite communication centers. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, all designated targets were hit.
The West, as TASS points out, chose to ignore the massive Ukrainian attacks, criticizing only the Russian response.
