NIZHNY NOVGOROD, 27 June (BelTA) - Regional cooperation is the linchpin of all the good ties that have developed between Belarus and Russia, said Natalya Kochanova, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
“Whenever we make decisions, sign contracts and agreements, we track their implementation throughout the year. But if we accumulate everything over the years, we understand that this is a serious contribution to the development of our Union State, trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation. Not to mention the fact that regional cooperation is the linchpin of all the good ties that have developed between our countries,” said Natalya Kochanova. “We understand perfectly well that the results we see today depend on how regional authorities work and how they solve the tasks set by our presidents. Production of competitive import-substituting products, creation of joint ventures, organizations, provision of services – all this is very important for us.”.

According to the speaker, Belarusian delegations made 129 visits to Russian regions, and 132 delegations from Russia visited Belarus last year. “Every time Russian governors visit us, our president meets with them, which gives a new impetus to cooperation. Aleksandr Grigorievich often tells us that it is important to cooperate at all levels, but what is being done in the regional plan - between the governors of our countries, sometimes let us solve problems faster, more efficiently and better,” Natalya Kochanova said.

On 27 June, on the sidelines of the 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Nizhny Novgorod, Natalya Kochanova, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, and Valentina Matviyenko, Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, met with heads of state authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and regions of Belarus.
