Kochanova describes Belarus-Russia relations as brotherly

MINSK, 2 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia enjoy not just strong friendship, but brotherly relations, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in Minsk on 2 December, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Russia are linked by bonds of history. Our nations enjoy not just strong friendship, but brotherly relations. Good relations between our presidents play a big role in strengthening our relations. Today, our relations are developing in absolutely all the areas. Parliamentary interaction at all levels is of high importance today,” Natalya Kochanova said.

The situation that is unfolding around Belarus and Russia today is not easy, the speaker said. “As Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the meeting with you today, we need not only to survive, but to develop effectively,” she stressed.

Natalya Kochanova said that at the session of the Supreme State Council in November the heads of state signed important integration documents. “It will undoubtedly contribute to a new stage in the development of our relations. We are sure of it. For the MPs this means serious work to develop the legislative framework, harmonize legislation and implement all the agreements that have been signed. We will all get involved in this work so that all the signed agreements will be implemented for the benefit of our peoples and states," she stated.
