Kazakhstan opens Consulate General in Brest



BREST, 14 April (BelTA) - The Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan was officially inaugurated in Brest on 13 April, BelTA has learned.

The Consulate General is located in the central part of Brest. "Another consulate general has opened in Brest," Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Nazaruk said. “This raises the level and status of our relations. This shows that we are fulfilling the instructions of the heads of state of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan to expand and intensify cooperation in full volume and even ahead of schedule. We have big plans." 

Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu of Kazakhstan emphasized that the opening of the Consulate General is an important event. Relations between the countries are developing very dynamically, and new prospects for cooperation are opening up. The head of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that "the origins of friendship between our peoples lie not only in our common history, but are also in the intertwined human destinies."

Murat Nurtleu added that the Great Patriotic War, during which Belarusians and Kazakhs fought shoulder to shoulder for freedom and independence, holds a special place in the joint past of our countries. "This year Belarus celebrates the 80th anniversary of liberation from the Nazi invaders. Next year, the CIS countries will celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Many of our compatriots fought in Belarus. We remember and honor their feat," Murat Nurtleu said.

Belarus and Kazakhstan have established an effective partnership. "Kazakhstan has al warm regard for Belarus as a key political and economic partner, a reliable ally and a close friend. Recently, Kazakhstan-Belarus relations have made significant progress along the path of mutually beneficial cooperation. A trust-based political dialogue at the highest and high levels allows us to resolve all issues in a prompt and positive manner," Murat Nurtleu said. 

The head of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that trade and economic cooperation has been increasing, industrial ties have been growing stronger. The two countries are well-positioned to step up bilateral trade, including through new mutually beneficial investment projects. Murat Nurtleu expressed confidence that the Consulate General of Kazakhstan in Brest will give an additional impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
