Iran always strives to be an effective partner in regional economic relations. The implementation of the free trade agreement between Iran and the EAEU is an important step on the path of deepening economic ties in the region. “This agreement provides unprecedented opportunities for the national economies and business of the participating countries,” Masoud Pezeshkian said.
He thanked the EAEU countries for the earlier decision to grant Iran observer status in the EAEU, which will lead to a wider and more effective participation of his country in economic cooperation with the EAEU. The president named specific areas where he sees the potential for closer cooperation.
For example, in terms
of transit, consideration is given to the development and modernization of the
railway and road corridors, air transport, the creation of joint special zones
and the use of transit capacities of ports for connecting the EAEU countries
with foreign markets.In the energy
sector, attention is focused on cooperation between producers and consumers,
using existing capacities to create energy networks in the region. In the field
of new technologies, emphasis is made on building the necessary infrastructure
to strengthen cooperation in the field of digital technologies and facilitating
the exchange of information.
“Undoubtedly, an independent sanctions-proof banking infrastructure is needed to make a full use of the potential and benefits of the free trade agreement,” he said. “In this context, the financing of joint infrastructure and industrial projects by the Eurasian Development Bank, the extension of the EAEU financial turnover system to interested observer states, and the use of national currencies in settlements can be included in the agenda.”
“I am confident that we will be able to present a successful model of regional integration and turn this historic opportunity into a turning point in joint development. The future belongs to peoples who pave the way for progress through cooperation and mutual trust,” he said.
