MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarus and India will continue cooperating despite the Western sanctions, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Republic of Belarus Alok Ranjan Jha told the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“Indeed, this is a challenge and a very important matter. There are countries like India that are not part of these sanctions, but they [the sanctions] have an impact on our relations: sometimes directly, sometimes indirectly. Sometimes sanctions can also affect a country that, in fact, has nothing to do with what is happening,” Alok Ranjan Jha said.
He suggested coming up with some out-of-the-box solutions to handle the existing challenges. “Basically there are two factors influencing today's trade. The first one is payment, the second one is logistics. Together they present a serious challenge. However, the Belarusian and Indian authorities are constantly in touch. We find ways to keep trading. Some of our joint projects are extremely important for both sides. And we find ways to continue our cooperation even in such conditions. We must continue looking for alternative ways to keep going,” the ambassador noted.
